Tonga Time
In Tonga, a concept known as "Tonga Time" exists, where everyone adopts a holiday mindset, resulting in potential delays and differences in timing.
It is advisable to anticipate flight delays and frequent changes, making it essential to double-check your flight details before departing. Similarly, the departure time of boats may not be strictly punctual every day.
Embrace the relaxed atmosphere and appreciate the absence of urgency and bustling activity. This presents an opportunity to escape the usual rush and enjoy a peaceful getaway.
Climate
Tonga is located at 21 degrees southern latitude and thus enjoys a very comfortable climate.
Depending on the time of the year, the temperatures range between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius during the day. Cooler temperatures (as low as 16 degrees during the cold months) at night mean there is no need for air conditioning.
Wind down at the end of the day watching the spectacular sunset from the terrace with a sun downer in hand and classical music playing in the background. The water temperature ranges from 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
Visa
Visitors from most countries including New Zealand, UK, USA and Australia may enter Tonga without a visa for a period no longer than 31 days. Travellers from some countries do require a visa.
