You will fly into Rurutu airport where the tour will begin. On arrival, you will be greeted by a member of Vaitumu village, you will then be transferred to the beautiful Vaitumu Lodge, which is only a short 5-10min drive away. Depending on your flight arrival time you will have the day to settle in have lunch,and explore the island and the surrounding reef. You may even feel like having a cool down in one of the "natural jaquzzis" which are created within the reef in front of the resort at high tide. At 7pm we will sit down for our first dinner together where you will be briefed on the week ahead. Dinner is served buffet style in the main restaurant area.

DAY 2

At 7am Your day will start with a beautiful French/Rurutian buffet style breakfast and home grown Rurutu coffee from the local plantation! At approximately 8am, a van will pick us up for our island tour. This tour will take us to places of interest including the plantations where you can learn about how coffee , vanilla and taro are grown and farmed on the island. We will visit different beaches, lime stone caves and wander through the local village. This tour will give you a good appreciation of this stunning island of rugged beauty.

We will return to the resort for lunch at approx 12pm and get ready for your first day out with the whales! Following lunch we will be transferred to the dive base near by where we suit up, hop on the boat and head out for a magical 3-4 hours with with the majestic whales of Rurutu.

DAY 3

Today is Sunday which is a day of rest in the the Austral Islands. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by the option to head into the local church. Today may be a good day to explore the beaches, there is a lovely quiet cove to swim in which you can get to on a walk into the village. You may like to experience some cultural aspects of the island today also.

DAY 4 - 7

The following four days will be as folllows:

7am buffet breakfast
Morning activities or relax- your guide will fill you in on the many options available
12pm lunch at Vaitumu
1pm whales
7pm buffet dinner, there may also be the opportunity to watch a cultural dance show

DAY 8

Unfortunately this will be your last day in paradise. Breakfast will be at 7am and you will then be farewelled by your new friends and hosts and transferred back to the airport. On your flight you can reflect on your wonderful time on the beautiful island of Rurutu, taking home new memories and hopefully a new appreciation of the Majestic whales of Rurutu.
